She is the daughter of The Honorable Raymond Cardenas, Retired, one of the first Mexican American Judges in the State of California, and founding member of the Mexican American Bar Association. Her mother is an immigrant from England who was orphaned in World War II and migrated to the United States for a better life. Ms. Cardenas earned her J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of Law in 1990, and her B.A. in Political Science from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1986. Ms. Cardenas has been an active member of the California State Bar in good standing since 1991.
She was recognized by the Daily Journal as one of the “Top Up and Coming Litigators in California”, for her extensive and impressive courtroom successes for her clients. She has been recognized by Utah Business Magazine as one of the “30 Women to Watch in Utah.”
She has successfully representation over 1,000 immigrants in the United States. Her experience includes representing clients before the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), the Executive Office of Immigration Review in Utah and California (Immigration Courts), the Superior Court in California, the United States District Courts, the California Appellate Courts, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Ms. Cardenas is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, Salt Lake City Chapter, the Utah Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and was an independent member of the Utah Latino Legislative Task Force.
